Camping weekends…Families & Groups

Join us for an overnight back to basics camping, bushcraft & forest school adventure! Suitable for families, youth groups, cubs, scouts, brownies & guides or groups of friends. Renew old skills, learn new ones. Explore survival skills and bushcraft cookery.

For adult groups have fun in the woods and rekindle all the joys of childhood through woodcraft, fire lighting, archery, air rifle shooting & tug of war.

Activities for all ages and abilities…….explore our amazing wood through our low ropes and team building course, create in the woodcraft centre, compete with air rifle shooting & archery, explore fire lighting skills and bushcraft & BBQ cooking, rope swing, zip wire and an overnight camp on our lovely camp site or be brave & build your own shelter.

Our camping weekends can be tailor made for your group, so please contact us to see what we can arrange for you.

Prices are dependent on the size of group and time of year, but start from: £35 per head with a min charge of £875 for the weekend (this is equivalent of 25 participants). If your group is smaller than this, then look out for our family camping set weekends & join other families for camping & forest school fun.

Weekends include a minimum of two Wrekin Forest School staff.  Where the groups attending are children’s group, eg cubs, brownies or guides, the accompanying group leaders & volunteers attending are free & we anticipate they will assist our staff with supervision of their group.

The price includes lunch and dinner on day 1, lunch on day 2, soft & hot drinks and snacks, includes marshmallows too, Overnight supervision & breakfast is the responsibility of attendees!

Please enquire for rates if you have a group smaller than 25, we are always happy to accommodate other needs within our family fun weekends.

In the evening all you need to do is get your fire pit lit & wash supper down with a mug of hot chocolate or a glass of refined grape or a drop of fermented grain, the choice is yours & provided by you! You need to bring breakfast provision. We will make sure you logs for the fire, BBQ’s, pots & pans etc.


Sample weekend plan

Day 1:

Arrival from 9.30am, set up tents & settle into our well equipped camp site, use your own tents or use our tents or hire a shepherds hut or two, we have a 2/3 berth pig ark, two shepherds huts & a three berth tents. The camp site has all you need from pots & pans to crockery & cutlery, BBQ’s & fire pits.

10.30am – snack time

11am – prepare vegetables for soup and assist in making sandwiches/free play

12.30pm – drinks and soup/sandwich lunch/drinks/marshmallows

1.30pm – main activities begin, archery, shelter building, survival skills with knot tying & fire lighting, prepare your own bolognaise & chicken curry for tea, cake & crumble making

4pm – free exploration, art school, zip line, rope swing, orienteering, scavenger hunts and mud kitchen and much more

5pm – cooked evening meal provided

6.30pm – WFS staff leave you with a bag of marshmallows and the hot chocolate


Day 2:

Breakfast is provided and prepared/cooked by you unless requested otherwise (additional cost will apply)

9.30am – WFS staff arrive & activities continue –
Air rifle shooting
Woodcraft room activities
Foraging
Pizza kitchen
Low ropes
Free exploration, rope swing, zip wire, mud kitchen etc

1pm – cooked lunch, ingredient provided by us

2.30pm – clear campsite and head out by 3pm
