Level 2 Forest Skills Leadership Course with Fire Safety Training, Follow up & Resources
What will I get from this course? … This is a two day all inclusive forest skills & outdoor learning leadership course. This course offers a more cost effective way of gaining the basic skills to manage outdoor learning for a variety of groups in your environment from educational establishments to youth groups.
What is included? … You will be actively involved in a practical course exploring a variety of ways for meeting curriculum target outdoors, ideas that would work in youth groups, as well as those who may be home educating their children.
Part of this training course with give you Level 1 skills in using basic woodcraft tools, it will equip you with knowledge to use fire safely in your space. When completing the fire safety aspect of the course there will be an expectation that you will provide some evidence of safe practice and there will be one follow up assessment that will require you to be videoed with six children demonstrating good practice.
How will it help me? …. It is designed to equip people with the skills to deliver outdoor fun and education developmental opportunities to a good standard. To give a good overall understanding of the principles of forest school and to recognise the psychological benefits of learning and exploring outdoors.
We will explore the way the outdoors can be used to fulfil curriculum requirements as well as the importance of the outdoors for exploration and well-being for all. A certificate will be awarded following successful completion of all course requirements, including the follow-up fire-safety assessment.
Can I have a fire after this course? … Yes you can, we will explore fire safety and working with our young people to create fire, we will look at fire for cooking and how we can make better use of the fire over and above doing marshmallows. Cooking on an open fire will form part of our journey.

For current students and people attending through an approved charity, including where the charity is paying for the place. Please contact us before booking if you are unsure whether this rate applies. Schools and academy trusts must use the school/employer-funded ticket, even where the academy trust has charitable status.
School/employer funded — £372
For a place funded by a school, academy, employer or other organisation, whether payment is made online or by invoice.
The self-funded and student/approved-charity prices are discounted to help keep the training accessible. Bookings funded by a school, employer or other organisation are charged at the full organisation rate.
