A comprehensive 2.5 hour course that gives participants the skills to set up safe fire areas in their Forest Adventure areas, this can be used by first timers or by those needing their three yearly refresher.

We will discuss types of fires for what purpose, investigate the best ways to start a fire for cooking purposes in Forest Adventure session. We will explore the best types of wood to use, how to use an axe for kindling. Part of our session will be dedicated to how to safely teach and use fire with children. We will learn how to write up our risk assessment, exploring benefits versus risk.

A pack of resources will be provided.

We will use a ‘Kelly Kettle’ as part of our training.
